Members of altar guild prepare the altar and sanctuary space for Sunday and Feast Day worship and for weddings and funerals. Their motto is from the great churchman, Philip Brooks, "Duty makes us do things well; love makes us do them beautifully."
To prepare the altar of the Lord for worship is a ministry of quiet grace, in which those who participate, usually in teams of two follow the prayer Book invitation to "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: Come let us adore him."
Contact our Altar Guild director Claire Van de Berghe for more information; telephone number available in the parish directory or through the church office (203-255-2740).
Chalice Bearers and Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Chalice Bearers are members of the parish who distribute the chalice (or cup) of wine at Holy Communion (they may at times also distribute the holy bread). They must be members of the parish, communicants in good standing, who are asked to help with this ministry by the Rector, receive training and are licensed by the Bishop.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (or Visitors) are those among the Chalice-bearers who are especially called to deliver the consecrated elements of communion to those sick or infirm members of the congregation unable to attend Sunday services.
For more information on this sacramental ministry contact the Rector, Matthew Calkins or Lay Coordinator Lili Whitmer; for numbers consult the directory or call the office (203-255-2740).
Lay Readers
Lay readers perform an important part of the worship ministry at St. Timothy's. The men and women (including a number of high school students) in this ministry read the Old Testament and Epistle Lessons and lead the congregation in reciting the Psalm during the first part of the main Sunday service (the Service of the Word).
If you are interested in becoming a Lay Reader contact the Rector, Matthew Calkins, at (203-255-2740).

Prayer Requests: click here for a prayer request form. We will be sure to lift your prayers during daily Morning Prayer and if appropriate at the Sunday service.
St. Timothy's Ushers are dedicated to making the worship experience at St. Timothy's as gracious and well-ordered as possible. Congregants and visitors are greeted, given bulletins and assisted, if necessary, in finding a seat. Ushers bring the elements of communion forward and collect the Offering. After the service they assist in straightening up the sanctuary and, with a vestry member, counting the Offering. Entire families are welcome to join this hospitable ministry.
For information on joining contact the Office at (203-255-2740) or Peter Altieri, Usher Coordinator.
