Growing in Christ

"Where learning is growing in love and faith."

We are bringing a new focus to our Children’s Ministry program this year with Children's Church.

All children will gather together for Children's Church in the Parish Hall at 9:45 am.

Children’s Church is designed to provide St. Timothy’s children in pre-K through grade 5 with a kid-friendly worship experience that goes beyond isolated Sunday School lessons.  The service  will be structured around a Bible story (usually the Gospel) told through our puppet playhouse.  Simple, shared prayer, and a song with movement complete our "Service of the Word" for younger children.  The older children will take leadership roles.  We will gather in the Parish Hall for what promises to be a special worship experience for all.

After Children’s Church, we will move downstairs to break into age-based groups for further activities.

Our theme this year is "Stewards of Creation" as we will explore God‘s blessings.  All activities are designed to give children a chance to grow in faith using their interests, abilities and talents. The program for children in preschool through Kindergarten, called Children's Chapel, is meant to introduce our youngest students to church and the stories of the Bible.  Children's Chapel will use elements of the Godly Play format and storytelling through art and games in a gentle, exploration-based approach.

Children in grades 1-5 are "Faith Explorers."  We will continue to use a rotation model, spending 3 or 4 weeks on each unit.  The kids will follow these familiar steps: Scripture Tent, exploring the lesson though storytelling and drama; Art in Heaven, learning though arts and crafts; and Moved by the Spirit, an active or musical approach to worship.

All children will rejoin the congregation for Holy Communion.

Along the way, we will have many special events and programs, including Christmas wreath making, Easter egg dyeing and the Good Friday Prayer Walk. Look for details to come!
