Small Groups
Men’s Sharing Group:
Saturday morning 8 to 9:30 am every other week
Charlie Woods, facilitator
You’ll find wisdom and grace, bad jokes, and breaking news when men gather together to talk and share. Come, have a cup of coffee and a nosh before the day gets away.
Women’s Fellowship Group:
Evenings as announced
Meg Mack, facilitator
Once a month the group gathers to discuss a book, share what’s happening, and walk a little closer with God and each other.
House Meetings/Dinners
Russ Green, facilitator
As part of a community organizing effort we are planning to have a series of "house meetings" to find out issues of concern to our members. These story-telling sessions, led by a trained facilitator, will be part of a regional effort of dozens of Christian, Jewish and Unitarian congregations to find out what common concerns we share in Southwest Connecticut, and what we can do together to make our world a better place. Come, share your story - and maybe share a meal as well. Details to be announced.
Worship and Study
Sunday Forum
An occasional series after the 10 o’clock service
Walking the Bible. Justin Gabbard, our seminarian intern, will speak on his summer’s stay in Israel, Palestine and travels to Jordan and Egypt. What is the land of the Bible like today? What is it like to travel in the footsteps of Jesus and the prophets?
October 11, 18, and 25
Midweek Worship and Study
Wednesdays, 11 am-noon and 6:30-7:30 pm
Join Fr. Calkins for a look at the coming Sunday’s scripture readings, followed by a short Holy Eucharist service. This will deepen your appreciation of Sunday’s sermon and provide a time for reflection and prayer in the middle of a busy week. People are welcome to stay for lunch after the morning meeting or join in a light supper before the evening meeting (which is followed by choir practice for those who love to sing as well as speak their prayers). Beginning in October.
Leadership Training
Community Leadership Training
Community Leadership Training with Pat Speer as our teacher will take place on four Thursday evenings in October, October 8, 15, 22 and 29., from 7-9 pm. Pat Speer, a professional organizer, will teach his renowned 12 hour course on leadership and community organizing. The principles apply in all areas of life—a terrific opportunity for anyone interested in time management, civic life, and the skills needed to lead people into action. These classes will take place at St. John’s, Bridgeport.
Membership Class
Membership classes are offered on a periodic basis to those wishing to become members of St. Timothy’s. Please talk with Fr. Calkins.
In the winter we also offer a course for those wishing to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. Those interested in Baptism may contact Fr. Calkins.
Pastoral counseling, spiritual direction and reconciliation (confession) are also available upon request at any time.
